Introduction to Editing course at Rutgers

I've been tapped to run a two-day Introduction to Editing workshop at Rutgers. Over two Saturdays -- November 3rd and 10th -- you'll learn proofreaders marks, what are the various editorial functions (line editing, copyediting, proofreading, etc.), the most common problems of grammar and syntax, how to edit a writer's tone, and how to earn the writer's trust.

If you're looking to break into publishing or media, you should look into this course. And if you simply need to understand some basics to better accomplish your job -- for example, if you have to revise and approve employees' proposals before they go out the door -- you should also look into the course. The listing will be on the Rutgers Writing Program Extension's site in a week or so, but you can also contact me for more info.

Covering the Warped Tour

I'll be covering the Warped Tour's stop in Englishtown, NJ this weekend for Premiere. Not sure what to expect in the press area, but I'm looking to get time with Coheed and Cambria, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and The Starting Line. Not exactly my cup of tea, but Warped is a well-organized event that you can feel safe sending your teenager to. No drugs or drunks, no violence (outside of the mosh pits). I can't say I'm looking forward to the show, but I am looking forward to the event.
